Bed Bugs Equipment Packages

Q: Do you charge royalties or license fees to use your system?

A: Thermal Remediation® from TEMP-AIR does not charge any royalties or licensing fees to use our electric bed bug heat treatment equipment.  We manufacture and sell heat treatment equipment directly to pest control professionals, universities, hotels and motels, and property managers, etc.

Q: I'd like to start a bed bug heat treatment business, how do you help?

A: Thermal Remediation® from TEMP-AIR offers bed bug heat treatment equipment, basic application training, technical phone support, and access to product and process developments.  Since we do not offer franchises or charge a licensing fee to use this technology, all the requirements of starting a new business are the sole responsibility of the business owner including: obtaining insurance, marketing, staffing, setting rates, and abiding by federal, state, and local regulations.  We are unable to provide assistance in those areas due to the wide differences in requirements and prices throughout the country.

Q: Do you offer exclusivity or territories for pest control service providers when they purchase a system?

A: No, we do not offer or manage exclusive service areas or territories.  As bed bugs continue to be a growing problem, heat is a viable tool in the pest control toolbox, and we want everyone to have access to it.

Q: If i buy an equipment package, what will you offer for marketing support?

A: Because we are not selling a franchise or charging licensing fees, we provide very little in terms of marketing materials.  We list our service provider customers on our website and can provide, upon request, standard equipment images, logo files, and application illustrations that you can use in your own marketing materials.

Q: Can we rent an equipment system?

A: At the present time our electric bed bug equipment is only available for purchase.  We do this so that we can ensure that everyone using our heat treatment systems have been properly trained.

Q: Won’t the bed bugs just run from the heat and spread to other units?

A: Bed bugs are attracted to body heat.  In a similar fashion, it is our experience that bed bugs emerge from hiding and are attracted to the heat from the heaters rather than seeking routes to escape.

Q: will you come to my home to treat for bed bugs?

A: Although TEMP-AIR provides Thermal Remediation® services for industrial facilities, we do not provide heat treatments for bed bug infestations.  We do, however, sell equipment and train pest control professionals to perform bed bug heat treatments.  To find a Thermal Remediation® equipment owner near you, click here.

Q: How hot will it get in the area being treated?

A: The Thermal Remediation® kill zone is between 120-140ºF.  Our electric bed bug heaters are digitally locked not to exceed 135°F based on air intake in the area being treated.  Exceeding those temperatures may result in damage to the structure and its contents.

Q: Can this system be used to treat other insects (fleas, roaches, etc)?

A: All insects have a thermal death point, but their behavior during the heat treatment process will vary. Bed bugs are the main focus of our EBB equipment.

Q: How long does a typical treatment take?

A: Treatment times will vary depending on the size and construction of the structure, the level of infestation, the type of contents, the level of clutter, etc.  We have found the average time to treat a typical apartment to be 6-8 hours from set up to tear down.

Q: Does the furniture have to be thrown out?

A: Typically furniture and personal belongings do not need to be disposed of, except in some rare cases with extremely high levels of infestation.

Q: Can’t I just turn up my thermostat and close all the windows to accomplish the same thing?

A: We highly discourage homeowners from trying to do this themselves. Research shows that temperatures of 122°F and higher need to be achieved for 100% mortality of the bed bug’s full life cycle. Home furnaces do not have the capability of safely reaching these temperatures. Proper air movement and temperature monitoring are also key to an effective heat treatment.  Please consider the fire and safety risks when using any type of heating equipment beyond its intended purpose, and call a professionally trained service provider with the proper equipment.

Q: Will the heat cause damage to my electronics?

A: Not when using a Thermal Remediation® system properly.  All electronics have a storage temperature and an operational temperature. Storage temperatures typically allow electronics to be subject to up to 149°F.  The EBB heaters are digitally locked not to exceed temperatures of 135ºF based on air intake.  All electronic equipment within the space should be unplugged during a heat treatment.

Q: Do you provide training?

A: Yes, we provide equipment and basic application training at our Burnsville, MN facility with a purchase of an electric bed bug heat treatment package.  On-site training is available at an additional cost.
